Asparagus with Lemon Brown Butter Sauce

Lightly sauteed asparagus with a lemony butter sauce.


  • 1 bunch of asparagus
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 5 twists of black pepper


  1. Snap tough ends of asparagus.
  2. Wash asparagus – do not dry asparagus.
  3. Add butter to frying pan and melt over medium heat.
  4. When butter is melted and frothy – add asparagus (water should still be clinging to the stalks). Leave the heat on medium. Cover with a lid and set the time for 5 minutes.
  5. Give the pan a good shake about half way through cooking.
  6. When 5 minutes is up – remove asparagus from the pan.
  7. The butter will have browned while cooking the asparagus. Add lemon to the butter in the pan. Add pepper. Whisk/stir the sauce in the pan to blend.
  8. Pour over asparagus and serve.
